Imipramine ( Tofranil )

Imipramine ( Tofranil ) in all forms is a prescribed drug. It must be stored at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Also liquid forms of this medication can not be frozen.
Imipramine ( Tofranil ) has pain relieving properties and is most effectively used to relieve pain from diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgias, tic doulourex, cancer pain and migraine headaches. Imipramine ( Tofranil ) is also used for the following. depression, bed wetting in children, and sleeplessness.
Take Imipramine ( Tofranil ) as prescribed and at the same time each day so you routinely remember.
Do not suddenly stop taking this medication: you may get side effects like ( nausea, headaches, and fatigue ).
Missed Dose: If you are taking more than 1 a day and miss a dose do not take it if it is almost time for the next dose. Just resume your usual dosing schedule. If you take it only once at bedtime and forget dont take it the following morning.
The ANALGESIC ( pain relieving properties ) effect of this drug is about 5 days - so take your dosage and wait to see if it will help you. If you are taking the medicine for depression and non pain problems it usually takes 2-4 weeks to notice the full effect of this medication.
Do not take if you have had a reaction to this drug in the past.
Do not take or drink with alcohol or any other medication without your doctors approval. The combination of medication can be harmful.
Imipramine ( Symptoms or Effects )
Common: anxiety, heartburn, drowsiness, dizziness, increased sun sensitivity, blurred vision, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and strange taste in mouth.
See physician always: chest pain, difficulty urinating, nightmares, ringing in the ears, rapid heart rate excessive sedation or uncoordinated movements while taking this medication.
