Definition

Marked anxiety or distress of  leaving home, being in public places, or feared situation(s). This anxiety or distress stems from the fear of being trapped, stranded without help, or from the anxiety these situation(s) cause. There may be panic like symptoms and no history of having Panic Attacks.

Diagnostic Criteria - Mental Health made easy.

NOT DUE TO A SUBSTANCE, GENERAL MEDICAL CONDITION, OR OTHER DISORDER.  
SEE: CAUSING ANXIETY.

Marked anxiety of being in a place or a situation that make escape difficult, embarrassing, or impossible. Typically involves characteristic clusters of situations. (E.g., leaving home alone, crowds, standing in a line, going over a bridge, pubic transportation )

The situation(s) that cause fear are avoid or endured with intense distress. There may be a need for the presence of a companion to help see them thought the situation(s).

Agoraphobia and panic like symptoms and no history of having Panic Attacks.
